To create a vibrant and inclusive sports culture where every individual, regardless of age and ethnicity can thrive physically and socially, in a safe environment, embodying Islamic values of discipline, unity and respect.
This project aims to deliver inclusive community sports events that bring together girls and women from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, with a strong focus on engaging muslim migrant and pacifica females of all ages and ethnicity. Through accessible, culturally sensitive, and fun sports activities, the program will encourage participation, build confidence, promote health and wellbeing, and strengthen community connections.
The project will include inclusive sports events such as football, netball and volleyball. It will be female-only sessions which will be led by female coaches and umpires.
Many migrant and refugee females face barriers to participating in sport, including cultural and social expectations, lack of access to affordable programs, language barriers, limited female-only or culturally appropriate sports opportunities and low confidence and lack of role models. As a result, these girls are often underrepresented in community sports. This project directly responds to this need by providing inclusive, supportive, and community-led sports activities designed specifically for girls.
The project will actively involve the community by partnering with local schools, migrant support services and community groups. We aim to encourage parents and families to attend events and support participants.
Funding support will enable us to remove barriers to participation and create a safe, welcoming environment where girls feel empowered to take part in sports regardless of background, language, or previous experience.
