The New Zealand Muslim Sports Association Inc (NZMSA) is a national, community-based, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering the Muslim community through sport.
We provide a platform for Muslim men, women, and youth to participate, compete, and connect — promoting unity, wellbeing, and faith-based values across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Our association believes that sport is more than just a game — it’s a bridge that builds connection, confidence, and character while strengthening our Islamic identity.
NZMSA organises sporting programs, tournaments, and community events designed to:
To unite, empower, and inspire the Muslim community of New Zealand through sport — promoting physical wellbeing, spiritual growth, and social harmony guided by Islamic principles.
To build a vibrant, united, and active Muslim sporting community that promotes faith, fitness, and fellowship — inspiring excellence and positive representation of Muslims across New Zealand.
☪️ Faith (Iman) – Guided by Islamic principles in everything we do.
🤝 Unity (Ukhuwwah) – Building brotherhood and sisterhood through sport.
🏅 Excellence (Ihsan) – Striving for high standards and continuous growth.
💪 Integrity – Acting with honesty, fairness, and professionalism.
🌿 Wellbeing – Encouraging holistic health: physical, mental, and spiritual.

Our flagship sport — uniting Muslim men, youth, and women through competitive and social tournaments. We coordinate regional and national competitions, providing pathways for players to grow their skills and represent NZMSA in local and international tournaments.
Empowering Muslim women and girls through sport. Our netball program promotes teamwork, discipline, and confidence while upholding Islamic values and modesty. NZMSA netball teams proudly represent our community in regional and international events.
NZMSA is passionate about developing the next generation. We run youth tournaments, leadership workshops, and mentorship programs that teach discipline, sportsmanship, and the importance of balancing faith with achievement.
Sport is a universal language — and we use it to connect hearts. Through friendly tournaments, family days, and interfaith sporting initiatives, NZMSA builds bridges between the Muslim community and wider New Zealand society.
Become part of a growing Muslim sports network. Whether you play soccer, netball, or other sports — NZMSA welcomes players of all skill levels and backgrounds.
Join our dedicated team of volunteers who make events, tournaments, and youth programs possible. From coaching and event management to media and logistics — every role helps build our vision.
NZMSA proudly works with community groups, local councils, and sponsors who share our goals. Partnership opportunities include sponsorship, event support, and youth development collaborations.
